Caving

The White Scar show cave is the longest show cave in Britain. It is beneath Ingleborough hill, about 30 minutes drive away, past Ribblehead viaduct on the way to Ingleton. See: http://www.whitescarcave.co.uk/

There are many small caves that the novice can explore with a torch, e.g. Yordas Cave.

For serious cavers, Bull Pot is only 10 minutes away in the picturesque valley of Barbondale.

Cycling

Dentdale is situated on two major long distance cycle routes - the Dales Cycle Way and the Pennine Cycle Way. There are also opportunities for off-road cycling in the area.

Running

There are 3 annual races in Dentdale:

Dentdale Run road race (14.8 miles) - 2nd Saturday in March
Rise Hill Fell Race (2.9 miles, ascent 1385ft) - Saturday of August Bank Holiday weekend (part of Dentdale Show)
Whernside Fell Race (12 miles, ascent 3000ft) - last Saturday of September
